So where has time gone? Thinking through a typical week for me now I’m doing well if I’m home for two evenings a week. That’s mostly due to committing more time to music rehearsals than anything else, which is no bad thing. Certainly, I feel the best way I express myself these days is with my lips attached to a mouthpiece!

Expression, in turn, leads to why this is being typed now. This place was always about me sharing a bit of my mind with the wider web but equally with a close group of friends. That was easy back in my Uni days (something I do miss) but now I’m a bit more mindful, wary even of saying the wrong thing or providing the wrong impression. I suppose this could be called ‘growing-up’ or accepting that I have more responsibilities now than then?

However, I also wanted this place to be something of a reflection on me that in the future I and others could read back as a diary and understand me that little bit more. As such, I intend to make use of this blog again and leave my little mark on the WWW. In fact, my intentions are so strong I’ve even pinned the WordPress Dashboard as an ‘App Tab’!

Basically I’ve brought the blog up a level so that it is now the index page of www.doss-about.co.uk. The reason is simple enough, the blog was the only bit of the site worth having. It’s updated often enough and it basically means that WordPress (the thing that powers this site) can now be a CMS (content management system) for all of it. Why would I want to do that?

Well, I’m hoping to finally get around to writing an about page and from that possibly do a testimony page, that’s the aim. With WordPress as the back-end I figured this would be a whole lot easier, especially for an about page.

A lot of things are changing very quickly in life at the moment and whilst this blog serves a purpose as documenting them it would be nice to have a central place for the really big ones, getting married, graduating, that kind of thing. My aim is that it will be a kind of rolling about page as I change and also provide a point where people stumbling onto here can get to know me a bit quicker.

Also, I’ve put a redirect from www.doss-about.co.uk/blog to go straight to here (and learnt a bit about .htaccess along the way) but for those linking here it’d be great if you could just drop the /blog from your link, thanks.

I wanted something a little more grown up and a design that was a little easier to maintain. Adding stuff to the old design was, quite honestly a pain in the a***. The amount of div’s all over the place was, overkill/silly and I think I got tired of it.

I’m quite chuffed with this design as I did most of it by myself, quite a novelty! But yes, Ben did have a hand, largely when I was getting frustrated/things going wrong with CSS.

My aim is going to be to change the header image often, most likely with macro shots Kita takes, they’re far better than mine! Also there are clues in the design as to what the wedding will be like…

So this is the new design, I look forward to your thoughts.

Just a quick thing whilst I have 2 minutes at work. The holiday was great, the house is good and we’re nearly all moved in and the job is going well. Unfortunately we haven’t got a net connection at home yet but will hopefully soon so normal blogging will resume soon (ish), also if I can make it into work a bit early next week I’ll do a nice long post of updates

Also I’m going to aim to rearrange things so that the content comes first followed by the tabs, it’ll look better on mobile devices and in theory you shouldn’t really notice the pause as twitter is contacted as happens at the moment. Well that’s the plan, let’s hope Ben’s not too busy next week :P

However (sounds so much nicer than but (ooh, talking of butt, Kita’s just left, no wait back on topic)) there’s a couple of things that have been bugging me recently; first I need to change the CSS so that when CSS is turned off or you’re on a mobile device for instance all the links and text on the right don’t come first and you have to scroll for 10 minutes trying to fish out the content, I will however aim to keep the Bible verse at the top. Second, nope, there was only one thing but there is another thing I’m going to do and that is to add twitter updates into the design. I’m thinking a tab on the left like the Bible verse?

Quick note, for those who don’t know/use twitter, it’s kind of a quick way to blog thoughts or interesting things and there’s a fair few ways to do it; through an instant messenger client such as MSN or Google Talk, on the twitter website and text messaging. Since getting a new phone (a BlackBerry, but that’s another post) I’ve been updating twitter every few hours or so, not really blog worthy but for those not on twitter I thought it would be kind of cool to put it on here.

So, any thoughts on that little lot?
