Ok I meant to write this a few days ago but been busier than I expected, at work and home (that’s a thought, worthy of a post, perhaps later!).
Housegroup on Thursday was good, everyone was warm and inviting, chatty and friendly. There was cake (honestly, what is it with Christains and cake? as far as I can remember since going to Uni every Church type thing has involved in smaller and larger quantities, cake), a time of getting to know others, worship, prayer, Bible study. All one could reasonably ask for and it was good, there wasn’t lots of discussion, probably due to the topic in discussion wasn’t very debatable (Romans, the book).
This is the first time I’ve been new to a housegroup/cell/family group where everyone else wasn’t new as well so it was nice that the leader made space for us to get to know the others and wasn’t particuarly worried about how much of what he had planned we got through. Fellowship needs relationship and it was nice that time was made for us to feel comfortable in the group.
One thing I’m not sure on is whether this is the housegroup we are meant to be in, it felt good and comfortable and there was a good mix of backgrounds there so perhaps, but right now I just don’t know. What I am being careful of is not comparing it to cell in Portsmouth.
This week Ben and I are meeting up with the Pastor and his wife which sounds good. It’s a dessert evening (see, more cake) to get to know one another, it’s just a shame Kita can’t make it (she heads off to Dubai the same day) however, it does mean I’ll be going to another dessert evening in October!
