So after my bargain switch I obviously needed somewhere to put it! A 6U rack should do it and low and behold I found one on ebay
it’s a flat pack mdf job designed for a small home studio. That arrived a few days ago, put it together in about5 minutes and it does the job perfectly but now for stage two of the project.
Networking equipment tends to be fairly loud, small fans, confined space and given that it’s in my room it would be nice if it could be just a little quieter, so stage two is to put a solid removable back with ventilation on and build a front door but with a perspex/glass window as I need, well want, to see all the pretty lights.
So far I’ve got everything for the back and all the stuff for the frame of the door but I’m yet to find some perspex. Well, correction, I’ve found some in B&Q but I’d have far too much excess and with no shed, no where to really store it for future projects. Hopefully google will help and I’ll find either some custom cutting company but that will probably turn out more expensive than a sheet from B&Q or I’ll look for glazers in Portsmouth.
Anyway, that’s what’s distracting me from work at the moment, I’ll post some photo’s, well, unless it turns out a disaster but I’m strangely confident!
