The Big Questions

7th November

One of the books I got at Soul Survivor and the one I was most excited about reading and thinking about is the above, however it seems to have filled my head with far too many questions and in all honesty I am somewhat struggling to come to any conclusions.

Personally I think it is fairly important to have a stance on some of the big questions such as free will and evil, especially when talking to others about faith so I thought this book would be a good starting point. It’s certainly full of interesting ideas and theories from the last few thousand years but it is a lot to get a head around.

It offers many contrasting ideas which in one sense is good but then in another I cant help feel a little lost, I certainly don’t think you need a degree in philosophy to be a Christian but how you could ever hope to convey some of the ideas in this book without one, I’m not sure I could.

Perhaps it is the kind of book I need to read a few times at different times in life. At the moment it is just for curiosity and with bigger things on my mind I’m not devoting as much time as I ought to but then should I have to? Perhaps I should just pray for revelation or that when needed the answers will appear? Perhaps when needed the answers will actually already be slightly tucked away in the back of my mind and they’re only really needed when they’re really needed (if that makes sense!)?

Anyway, I’m going to hit the pillow, read a little more, I’ll probably post some more about more specific topics as they’re covered.

God bless,

Dan
